Edition Audiotool: Tottenhauser

Total playing time: 0:49:31

Audiotool proudly presents @Tottenhauser 's Drum and Bassist Top 10 Album. Check out his feature on Facebook:

"There are just too many good artists and tracks out there to pick just 10. So I decided to narrow it down by picking a specific genre. And I would be a bit of a hypocrite if it wasn’t Drum and Bass."

1. Amen junglist by @ascent

"One of the first tracks I heard on AT, and definitely the one that showed me that old-school Drum and Bass/Jungle was feasible on AT. Ascent has made many masterpieces but if I had to pick one in the end it would be this one. Probably more for nostalgic reasons since this was non-stop on my old mp3-player."

2. Menya(a.b.demo) by @Anthony Bartone

"Another less-known classic . I fell in love with this track the minute I heard it. The eerie chantey like background. The percs… Djz the percs! And then the sub. And to top it all: the harp-like sound. Everything fits so well together. Anthony is a genius and it is very unfortunate that he’s gone. But luckily we can still listen to his masterpieces and open them up to see how he made the magic happen. "

3. 3liquid by @vhh

"If all Liquid Drum and Bass sounded like this I’d be a huge fan. It’s happy yet there’s some menacing vibe going on. The energy is subdued yet you can kind of imagine, a dirty Reese cutting through all the happiness and it would fit perfectly. Vhh made many experimental Drum and Bass/Jungle tracks. If you haven’t heard his stuff check him out. Alas, just like Anthony, he seems to be gone for good."

4. Impact by @THRONE

"I will always know him as plus + . No matter his name this is another liquid Drum and Bass producer I’ll gladly include in my list. This track was another eye-opener for me. The first time I heard a Reese-like sub in an Audiotool track. I studied the crap out of it. Yet could never really copy it  another amazing talent. "

5. Legacy by @Jonjon

"Off course if I could I would included 'Breach of trust' in the list. But some idiot decided it was not good enough and deleted it. Curse him forever and ever … Yet Jonjon must be in the list. Legacy is another gem showcasing his brilliant talent for mixing the right sounds and mastering them to a professional level. And that Reese, did I already mention that I’m a sucker for Reese basses? The guy does deserve to be called the godfather of Drum and Bass on Audiotool … even beyond Audiotool in my opinion."

6. And then all these crazy-ass robots appeared by @noraus1

"What can I say? That bass, the percs… the crazy-ass-robots! Just brilliant! Mindboggling and a huge game-changer. Noraus always leads the way. We mere mortals can only follow. "

7. Excircle Optics by @lucy inugami

"The little prodigy. My partner in crime. Is there anything Daniel can’t do? When I first ‘met’ him he was 13 years old. I couldn’t believe it. His music sounds like he is at least 30.

Excircle Optics is showcase his mastering of the synths and fx. His level of automation is astonishing. The sound design and mastering is always spot on, no matter which genre he’s doing. Daniel truly is one of AT’s most precious gems. And he will only get shinier and shinier."

8. R by @oedipax

"Surely Oedipax had to be on the list. She always makes the darkest Drum and Bass. This one in particular has the typical Oedipax signature. The layered drums. The eerie background sounds. The Trance-like synths. A massive uplifting break. She truly is the queen of Drum and Bass. May her reign be long lasting."

9. Limitless by @notoz

"The Amen breaks, the synths, the pacing … the energy of this track ... every time I listen to it I get goose bumps. This really was another one of those tracks that blew me away. Probably not the best-known track from Notoz but to me it is his best by far. Probably because in all the uplifting, glitched Amen drums there’s this growling dark bass telling me to run for my life ;)"

10. A Completely normal day by @Jambam

"The guy is crazy we all know that. What better track to showcase it with. Jambam has a great talent for combining sounds and find melodies in the chaos he creates. His glitch work on this track is probably the best on Audiotool. And his experiments are always very inspirational to me. One of the truly great minds on AT."

Artist recommendation:

@IVS – Crows "Sounds fresh yet very old school. Lovely experimental Techno and he/she? not afraid to deviate in other genres to. I especially like Crows because of the Detroit bass and glitch percs. A great song where all the sounds fit with one another. I just wished it was a bit longer ;)"

11. Crows by @IVS

Favorite track of his own

"This track is the closest I have yet come to creating the dark Drum and Bass/Jungle I love. There is still a very long way to go. But this track was a really important milestone for me. "
