Use FX = CPU usage.
When CPU usage is high, render to audio to save on CPU usage.
If you don't, you'll start to lag etc.
And teaching friends and family something you know a bit about is different to being hired by a university to teach there.
Just be honest about how you made the music you're posting and nobody will have an issue with you. It's really that simple.
