The Seahorse

Mark Wells

The Seahorse's first publication about a year ago, was more like a Machinist-based finger exercises than a complete track. But it was cleary the work of an experienced rhythm man. In this short space of time he has managed to enhance his skills so much that he can now create music which any movie director would give his eye teeth for.

Musical Style
I don't really know how to describe my style or what genre it is. Sort of a mix between Ambient, Techno, Psychedelic, Acid, World, Big Beat, and an assortment of different live music. Is that a genre? Probably. ;)
Musical Background
I've spent most of my life playing drums in everything from marching band to Punk and Metal Bands with a little bit of Jazz, Funk, and Latin thrown in here or there.
Started making music
In the 3rd grade with the saxophone and quickly decided that I wanted to play drums instead. My parents were thrilled with that decision.
On Audiotool
I discovered Audiotool through the Chrome store. I downloaded the app and promptly forgot about it. I rediscovered it a few months later and was immediately hooked! The Machiniste was the coolest thing I had ever seen ... Then I discovered The Pulv!!!! I had absolutely no idea how to use it and no idea how subtractive synthesis worked, so I became obsessed and read everything I could about the subject and understood nothing. That led to tons of experimentation and relentless studying of other AT artists tracks and I finally began to learn! Yeehaw!!
Message to the community
This thing we call Audiotool is amazing! Not only is it a powerful DAW, It comes with an international community of open minded and generous folks who are more than willing to let you look at how they make their music, and give you advice and feedback. It also comes with people who will listen to your tracks and an almost unlimited catalog of tunes for your own enjoyment. Besides, how many of your friends can tell you they just finished writing a song with a dude from Macedonia. :)
