you don't need a fancy speaker setup or professional headphones. your headphones at the bare minimum need a full range of frequencies from at least 30-16k, and stereo. the quality of your song will change from system to system, but what will mess you up is a lack of reference. listen to music and get comfortable with what you have.

You just gotta compare what a professional's mixdown is, to yours. That's how I get my mixes the way they are. Cause obviously I don't have all the headroom that they have. Even with different headphones, it's all about utilizing it, and compensating
