You drift off to sleep. Venture through the cycles of REM, then walk through your memories. In the end, you realize you are dreaming. You can do anything you want. You can BE anything you want. Enjoy. This track, the beginning of which was based off of The Depths Developed by rupert, is probably my best work yet. I'm not done, but it's ready to be published. Some influences from dark noise/ambient, lo-fi, and jazz, but mostly works into a house track. The picture is from Zohar Manor-Abel on flickr.

I can't believe it was a full year ago that I produced this track. I remember when I first released it, how excited I was to have made something that felt complete. Considering that I've been going through some creative block and that I've been really critical on myself, it's nice to look back at something from my past and realize that I AM actually improving and that I am beginning to find my style :)

seb, ntjon, tornsage, yafee?, and arche3.0, Thank you for your feedback! This was a really fun track to make. I'm definitely going back to fix the ambient section; my edits really didn't do the original justice :)

Thanks Infyuthsion. That beginning part definitely is too loud; that will be the first thing to fix. And thanks for the advice on the mixing. I'm still trying to learn mixing, so I'm sort of flying blind right now. Your advice in your videos has been a lot of help for me, and this special attention is really helpful.

By the way I see you used double reverbs. In the future I wouldn't bother with that, as the AT reverb plugin adds a lot of garbage sound to stuff. It's kind of a lousy pedal in my opinion. Try removing the reverb from the sines, and doing a cut at 4000hz of a few db.

I like it, but the beginning is way too loud. I would say use a compressor, or turn it down, or if it's not fixable just remove it. It feels like the drums are kind of subdued and drowned out by the sine things. I would try scooping out whatever frequency the sines are causing that lack of clarity from the sine plucks. Use a medium Q. So anyways compositionally I like it there would be nothing I'd probably change at all it's more just annoying mixing/sound design issues.

Thanks for your input, tophat. I'll definitely try to tone down that first little bit in the next version.

woooooooooooooow!! truly does make one drift away.. absolutely love the rhythm of this, simple but fits perfectly...awesome choice of a kick. Leveling can be adjusted a tad bit..maybe turn down those beginning synths a taaad bit or slap an EQ on them and turn down the higher frequencies.. it startled me when I pressed play xD. Nonetheless...EXCELLENT.
