nah i think its true man, he's bang on imo. The moment i hear a shitty mix/master of a 'professional' release i instantly stop listening. If you want to compete with the big dogs you have to git gud at mastering yourself (reaallly hard and expensive), or find a trustworthy engineer to do it for you (which is also pretty expensive dependant on their rates)

whatever engineer said that is kinda dumb though lol, a good song is good regardless if its really a good song and not riding on good mixing

haha i respectfully disagree! i heard some engineer say this one time, 'a bad song mastered well sounds great, a great song mastered badly sounds horrible" or words to that effect. Like the content of my tracks is usually alright but the mixdowns themselves are messes half the time
