lol jk, this is actually a good question- whenever I do this it's usually on anything that isn't a growl. 1 or 2 exciters isn't powerful enough to fully bring out the vowels in the bass. If you do this, it's actually a tad cleaner and less work than using curve automation or whatnot.
Though I mean... sometimes when I use the EXACT same automation, it could totally be me just being lazy and sloppy. You can tell which basses I half-assed with a little inspection.
