You can't have your priorities mixed up. Your music and its quality comes first. Its sad to see so many people get angry and shut down after getting called out for this behavior. You can't fight for an audience and then have nothing to say. You will never be satisfied if you are not willing to better yourself and earn that respect from your peers. Hone your craft, its a long process but no one ever regrets developing a skill.

i didn't even publish for almost a year, then i published the only thing i felt proud of and when i asked everyone for feedback i got hounded for chasing clout. audiotool is losing me slowly

    • User Avatar

      naswalt

Yeah, clout chasers are an issue on any site aimed at people who want to entertain so people will be on the look out for it. Some people will understandably misinterpreted your actions for that. If you know you're not doing that then don't let them take you to the point where you say stuff like "audiotool is losing me slowly"

it is kinda disappointing when you don't have enough people listening to your music tho

I think charting is used to let you have more listeners and of course it has to be good at least

    but you are right.

audiotool isn't really the place to develop an audience. It's a great place to network with other artists, but not really the place where you'll be getting millions of streams. It's a pretty small community of people who want to make music first and foremost. trying to min-max the charts doesn't do much for you and will likely just lead to you not being very liked on audiotool.

I’ve never charted be4 and it’s all I strive for. I live to make music that charts. My bussy quenches for attention and to be smashed by comments saying “mmm good chikin” 😩 one day I will chart and make my big uwu discord daddy Vizil proud

    • User Avatar

      hurahurahura.

      you will, one day, chart

when that day cums you will have a bucket full of chikin telling you how good your chikin is and you will be completely and utterly quenched

One day you will chart and when you do you'll see where we are coming from. And by the way I like your music

This is a message everyone needs to see. If you think charting makes you good, you're wrong by a longshot. No one cares if you chart, at least I don't, focus on making your music better instead of charting because at the end of the day it does literally nothing for you, it doesn't get you paid, doesn't get you known by anyone outside of audiotool, it's really just an ego boost. If your goal is to chart, set your goals higher. (This is from someone who has 2 songs charting rn.)

      i just make it

      i dont think too much

or try not to at least

only time i think about it at all is in the studio

then i publish, move on to the next track

people's thoughts matter, yes, and their opinions affect me, dont all people affect each other?

but then i just go to the next song, thats it

no thinking about any of this shit

      its easier that way

i've came a long way from how i did music, exploring new things and boundaries and just finding my own pleasures of sound design

yeah i often dream about getting to singles someday, but knowing how back and forth of attention my tracks get, it's definitely gonna be a long time, but I'm willing to wait for that rather than spamming people's walls or making alts and totally pretending I'm some new guy and not some highly experienced AT user lol

    • User Avatar

      titik-rabbid

yeah that's something that took me months to finally be at peace with

i wasn't worried about charts tho, i was just trying to leave an impression to others, but all i did in the end was limit myself and keep myself from doing the things i enjoy doing because i keep thinking my stuff had to be this clean, well mixed, highly and professionally produced track for so long, but i still did whatever i wanted to do anyway (while still being stuck in that negative mindset)
