  Don't make it too loud in the beginning. Even if you can't mix, you should at least build it up to the hype. That doesn't mean discourage the drums at the start, but be smart about it.

  Add small gaps, like small pauses in the track, like transitions at certain parts. I'm in a mixtape, and you'll see what I'm talking about.
