DAW stands for Digital Audio Workstation, which is a music production program. You should get a DAW, there are many to choose from if you look around. I produce on FL studio.
Awh come one! I remember feelin like "the man" making those CC tracks, now I look back and laugh at myself and the whole thing. They should include a piano roll, sequencer, mixer, everything need to make original music. Do you have a DAW?

To make melodies: just try to imagine the melody. Or the other way: you can start with the chords and then try to make a melody out of the chords.
