The album follows an unnamed person waking up in a forgotten city. The city looks familiar, but subtly wrong: streetlights still work, old advertisements flicker, phones ring in empty apartments, and radio stations broadcast fragments of conversations that haven't happened yet.
The protagonist gradually realizes that they died a long time ago.
The "city" is actually a reconstruction created from the memories of the dead. Something called The Void has been using these memories to recreate people—and every time someone is successfully reconstructed, something else is lost.
The horror isn't simply that the protagonist is dead.
It's that they've been resurrected before.
And each resurrection has made them a little less human.
