Zir0h, Smoke and Water (Zir0h Remix)

00:0003:15

So for about a week or two I had been wanting to do an homage to Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple, but I had no idea how to start. So I started looking at other covers/remixes, trying to get ideas of what to make. Well, lo and behold, I struck inspiration! I've tried a lot of new elements, including side-chain compression and using gate effects to give me that electro house feel. I also challenged myself to use as little added effects as possible in regards to pedals and such. I'd like this track to serve as an example that you don't need tons of effects to achieve a specific sound. I also managed to get everything sounding as clean and full as possible without sacrificing quality or volume. I'll leave this open for remix so y'all can peek in, hopefully I can learn a few of you somethin'.

As always, please critique, and thanks for listening!!

the synth bass kinnda has a wahwah sound. I feel the attack could be a bit more abrupt to really get the "punch"

I feel very critical today, so I'll try to give this as much crit as I can. First thing I noticed was that the track structure is a slight bit inconsistent, it is not fluent. Adding more elements or experimenting with the filter slope could make it better. The white noise sweeps are a bit too loud for the other elements. Next, I would also like to point out that the track is missing more synth elements. They don't necessarily have to be in other Freq ranges going throughout the whole track

Maybe adding a bunch of little melodic fillers would improve it, and-or layering the bass so it becomes more interesting. The drums feel a bit boring on my end, yet I appreciate where they sit in terms of mixing. I would recommend to give them a little bit of stereo spectrum (not necessarily a good recommendation) it's just something I would try. Ehm and the bass still needs a bit of mixing, slightly cutting away some higher mids.

And that's all for my part, I am hell of a not perfect producer, so take all of what I said with a grain of salt. Otherwise, it's a pretty good track. I'm glad that someone's using the gate c: .
