having the waveshaper at stock preset can reduce the threshold required to clip audio, from my experience. i could be wrong though, it's been a while

I really like giving a lot of feedback. I feel like it's the best way to improve, if there's multiple things being listened on how to achieve something(s). It's better than being vague and giving opinion based criticism. Not trying to harm or stress anyone. I just like giving feedback sometimes xd

Putting a default waveshaper before the output will not make it clip. If you bend the thing in the middle, then yes it would. But if you don't bend anything at all. And turn down the right square a bit, it'll be a soft limiter. As well as turning up the auto drive so that there's no artifacts

iforgot to mention to client that i respect your opinion but idk, just don't agree ;-) i wouldn't actively spend any time doing professional mastering if there was a gun put to my head

can we please stop arguing over "how to master properly"? neither me nor kurp need to justify why its mixed/mastered this way. i like the track as is and i will take these tips into account for future tracks. what i don't like is when you are blunt and only seem to point out negative aspects of a track. it just ruins the experience, because yes, we worked pretty hard on this. the way you put it feels like you are actively devaluing the track we put a lot of work in.

even using waveshaper as a thing before stereo out isn't that good since it will also introduce clipping. it just lowers the threshold needed to clip, atleast thats what it seems to do.

i don't think most people can even hear these minute differences in the first place anyway. like i said it sounds the exact same to me except the pre-compression sounds quieter

sinusoidal added a gate on the master but it kept introducing clipping sounds so i removed it. to be honest even just reducing volume here seems to fix clipping, but i really cannot hear the audible difference between it being quieter and having things in this setup which makes the song louder but magically not clip, while still having high dynamics.

To be clear, I'm not trying to call you guys out, or shit on y'all. This is a great track. It just has way too much compression than it needs for the master

Using a multiband to mix is the worst thing you can probably do. 1: It doesn't limit it right off the bat. 2: It's way too much compression for the master if you don't know how to use it properly. 3: Using it even a tiny bit can make drastic changes. 4: It can make artifacts, or create random harsh transients. 5: It doesn't actually clean up your master as much as you think it does
