  • Hey, Cal!

Can I publish that feedback loop we started? I think it sounds pretty cool. it's ok if not, though, if you want to add more stuff

    • I'll copy and paste it

      Thanks Cal!

    • If you'd rather just publish, that's fine too :P

    • Ah, yeah, well, you could copy and paste it into a new draft. I wouldn't want credit for something you did is all :P it's your work, you deserve the credit for it.

  • I have no more ideas for the addict project

    • toes

    • I'd rather work on it until I feel like I've done all I can to make it sound like I want it to, as opposed to clogging people's notifications with constant republishing.

    • Yeah, but I wanna see if any ideas pop up for it. It doesn't feel very complete right now.

  • hi

  • Hello Cal. It is becoming more and more apparent to me that I need a pair of monitors to understand how my low end sounds, but all I have available is a completely untreated room. It would be really difficult to figure an arrangement out for treatment and there's little overall space to move around. The place is pretty asymmetric, which might help reduce standing waves. I know that the bass sounds a bit muffled, otherwise it's fairly balanced in the mids.

    • Obviously if you play super loud for a long time etc. You will still fatigue yourself. Some people report certain speakers (frequency responses) fatiguing them faster as well.

The second hand market is a great place to snag a deal, you just have to make sure you're getting what's advertised and where possible test it first. The latter isn't always an option, unfortunately.

    • Thanks a lot. I was thinking of buying them to reduce fatigue too and to not damage my hearing. That's the first reason. Second was that I noticed the bass response on one track sounded funny in our school studio. Fairly certain we have Adam T7Vs.

    • 4. If you can consider it like an investment and get them now knowing you'll be able to improve the room in the future, that could be the way to go.

  • Hello Cal Lycus,

I heard that you offered a free mastering service, so can I invite you to one of my tracks and you explain to me how to make the master sound better? I already bounced the original track and uploaded it as a sample in another draft (if that's okay with you, my computer couldn't run the original draft anymore).. I don't want you to master it for me, just show me how you would do it.

    Thanks,

    Eshaan :)

    • I already started trying to do a bit of mastering, I don't if it's good though

    • Alright, thank you, I will send the invite

    • Feel free to send an invite and I'll take a listen and leave some notes in the chat box / draft comments

  • Hey Cal, could you give me a hand with mixing my latest track that I just published? I saw that you offer mixing and mastering services. How does it work?

    • didn't receive your mail

    • Working on the mix now. I copied the draft into a new one that I'll invite you to when I'm done :)

      Also sent you an email.

    • Awesome, I'll take a listen today/tomorrow

    • Mixing isn't harder in AT as long as you setup the draft correctly. It takes time and effort to set everything up at the end, which is usually what I end up doing when people ask me to mix their stuff.

AT provides all the tools needed for a clean mix, it just doesn't many have alternatives (like, there's only one EQ worth using etc.) to choose from. This just leads to creative mixing techniques though.

    • but in all seriousness it is possible in audiotool just that mixing in audiotool is a bit more harder but its possible

    • ez u just become cult ez peezy

  • Are you available right now to help me mix a project I got in my drafts? I don't want you to do the mixing for me, I just want you to tell me what I need to do to fix the mix.

    • Alright!! :)))

      Thanks for your helppp

    • Done.

Based on the style I didn't want to push the dynamics too much as it could start to have a negative effect on the vibe you're going for.

    • Invite sent.

  • Okay, so apparently I deleted a draft I don't remember deleting 😭

Is there like a way I can get it back, or do I have to start over completely??

It's fine if I have to I'd just prefer not to start over 😔

    • That's alright then 😭

I'll just get to reworking on it

    • Email the team, but I think deleted drafts are un-recoverable.

    • It's not that big of a deal, just wanted to ask.

  • Cally!! I need your help!

    • Nevermind, I think it was just my wifi or something ☠

    • I was working in a draft and suddenly it started not playing. I refreshed and now it's looping and glitching. I don't know whats wrong or how to fx it. Can you help me?
