I considered getting the 8i6 or 18i8 a while ago, but after some research it seemed like the higher-end Scarlett's tend to come with factory faults fairly often. The interface itself is good though, so I recommend you try to get it replaced.
Maybe you should also get a separate headphone amp or a DAC if you're having trouble driving your headphones.

update: sold the 18i20 for a little less than I bought it for and now it seems to be working well for the ebay buyer who bought it (i think they are using it with a mac!). Went with a gen 3 2i2 in the end and it's been painless thus far c:

I cannot comprehend what just happened. Changing the USB B cable fixed the problem. Solved the HORRIBLE distortion that came through the monitor outputs. I can't thank you enough <3

I have noticed that contemporary cheap-ish gear (primarily headphones and headsets) tends not to work with older gear. If the power supply doesn't fix the problem, you might want to look into some quality headphones (beyerdynamic ones are pretty good). The CPU might also be causing some issues; I highly doubt that those would be connected to your problem though.

I'll try replacing the socket connector and also the interface to pc usb. My monitors are literally just a headset. So i'm gonna likely get a pair of headphones with stereo seperation soon. PC is ryzen 5 5600x and rtx 3070.

Sounds like an issue with the power supply.
Maybe you need to replace that, clean the connectors or make sure that its connected directly to a reliable socket.
It might also be a software-hardware compatibility issue though.
May I know what gear (PC, Monitors, ...) you are trying to use with it?

So I can't use the proper monitor outputs. When I was trying to use it, I used the auxillary headphone routing to hear my computer audio. Some days I'd load up my PC and suddenly it would be only in my left or right ear.

Hey, I appreicate the comment. I bought a used unit off of my old music tech teacher, one of the earlier generations of the 18i20. The software end of the interface is awful and I really struggled with it. I think that it has some pre-amp problems. There's 2 multijacks at the front. When I plug only one in, the gain is fine.. But when I plug in another one, the gain becomes incredibly low. Each sounds fine when plugged in by themselves. I don't have a pair of headphones with stereo seperation-
