I've been wanting to make a synthwave track for a while now, especially because some of my past tracks included some synthwavy elements, and I thought to myself, "Why the hell haven't I made a synthwave track before?!" Plus, synthwave just sounds amazing in general. So, I present to you my first attempt at a synthwave track! Feel free to give me feedback so I could eventually make better synthwave music in the future :)

  • Oooh I wanna remix this. Its really good.

    • Thanks, and go ahead! I love to see the different takes people make with my music :)

  • @EscapingReality Bro would you mind if I use this song for a school project I need a good Synthwave and this is the best I've found so far. Also,

  • Yooo, nice work! Just some mixing and mastering to be done but you totally understand how it's supposed to sound and how to compose synthwave, very nice vibe! Also feel free to give my latest track some feedback, it's a synthwave work in progress

    • Thank you so much!!! I'm definitely hoping to make more synthwave in the future, and hearing from you that I'm on the right track makes me feel more confident in doing so. You also reminded me that I was planning to check out your newer synthwave track lol, I'll get to that.

  • Wow so this is called synthwave. I've never heard of it, but I can tell that this is top quality! Nice job my friend!!!

    • Thank you!!! I definitely had fun attempting this genre, I love it so much and I think it'd be cool to get into it more- and get other people into it as well.

  • whoa i wanna learn synthwave

    • That would be so cool if you learned how to make good synthwave music! Then maybe we could collaborate on a synthwave track together :D

  • Cool first try

  • I really like the sound and general vibe of this track, for one. It needs some EQing and polishing, but I know you're working with limited software. That being said, I am seeing that you are using more and more instruments in your tracks. I opened this in the studio and took a look at your synths. First thing is first, you have a reverb pedal on almost every heis, and almost all of them have similar settings, if not identical...

    • I get that a lot. but now it's here so you can come back and refer to it later, or you can always ask me any questions you have :) I look forward to hearing from ya!

    • This is quite a bit of info to take in at once, but I really really appreciate it! Thanks dude! I'm definitely gonna try to come on here later now, it would be great to learn some new stuff from you :)

    • ...so if you condense your effects, you can open up space for EQing, which is the other thing this track needs a bit of. Use a Quantum between your centroid and stereoOutput tool and set it to post. I know it looks like greek but this is a really powerful tool for polishing those rough edges after you're done composing. If we get the chance to work together this week, I'd love to show you the basics, as I've now grasped them fairly well.

  • Delete all but one reverb pedal, and use a merger, minimixer, or in this case, the kobalt 16 channel mixer to merge them all into that one pedal. This will cut down the load on your computer, and thus help slightly with audio lag. The other thing I might suggest is instead of using that reverb pedal, play around with the Quasar (AT's newest reverb effect). It can give a much wider and more satisfying sound, and can produce many more effects than the pedal can...

    • Try not to give up @EscapingReality . AT now offers colored cables to help you try to organize things better. Keeping your workspace organized is important obviously because of what you just said, and also it makes it easier for other artists that you are working with to figure out what you've got going on when they come in. WasserKraft is right, you could also do it that way with the Centroid. Most times you'll find that there many ways to do the same task in DAWs, tho some may differ a bit.

    • you could also hook all the reverbs up to the Centroid and do it that way

    • Alright. I remember trying to look for some type of thing I could use to link them all to one reverb pedal, but I got so lost with everything that I just decided to put them all on separate pedals instead XD

  • would you mind if i remixed this and made a few edits lol

    • Don't mind at all, go for it! I love it when people remix my stuff :D

  • Btw, I know the drums kinda suck, but that was the closest stuff I could find to good community synthwave samples for them. I still don't know how to import samples, and even if I did, I don't think my chromebook would let me -_-

    • That would be great! I was about to hop off of AT for now, but at some point soon we could get together and I would be appreciative of you showing me how to

    • ive done it a few times

    • i could show you how to import custom samples
