Nope. Youre thinking of Mixing in the DJ sense. Where they mix from one track to the next seemlessly. Mixing (or levelling) is where you adjust the volume and pan of all synths acordingly. And mastering is the last few effects between the synths and the main output. Watch or read about any tutorial on the internet about mastering and im right :)

What? I thought mastering meant the ability to fit a track in a playlist and transition it flawlessly. I think "mixing" is what you mean.

@arche289 - Yes you are also right. Mastering does not need to be done the way i said it. This is more a guideline for beginners to master their EDM tracks. If you look on my soundcloud and see my classical tracks, the mastering is very basic with only a lil EQing and very small compression

because compression brings the whole mix together :) @calkayak - yes you are right, mixing is more important than mastering. Because if you mix your track badly but master it well, it will still sound bad.
