We would like to thank the organizers of this great event - not to forget the winners, nominees, and all other members of this exceptional community.
Let's go
Best new artist:
In 2022, many talented artists began their journey on Audiotool. New genres were created, and others were explored in fresh and exciting ways! There were so many amazing newcomers to chose from, making it very difficult for us. We ended up with a tie between two:
atelier
and
solitude,
Somber has a way with music... emotion is expertly captured and presented; his sounds tell a brilliant story. The track
i'm going to miss you.
Is a perfect example of such. We look forwards to seeing what the future holds for his body of work. Solitude exhibits remarkable and meticulous sample manipulation throughout his songs. His percussion is top notch, and the timbre of every sound is never out of place. We cannot wait to see what tracks he will share with us in the future!
The growth of AT artists in 2022 was truly impressive! So many brought their music to new levels... and it was quite difficult to choose a winner. Once again we had a tie:
kurp
and
andy
both showed us all the meaning of practice makes perfect. Andy's shift towards vocal focused compositions was amazing to witness. In just the past year alone, his vocal range, mixing and lyricism reached new heights. His live recordings of guitar and piano showed us how wide his range of talents spans, and we are excited to see what he will bring to the table in the future. Kurp's intense and beautiful tracks have long been on everyone's radar, but in 2022 he truly upped the ante. Some call him the king of the pulv, and for good reason. His sound design is incredible, and he has truly mastered the art of using minimal devices to achieve the maximum quality.
A great composition needs a great piece of artwork to accompany it. Although many artists have their own unique styles, one stands out among the rest:
Goon
showed us how it's done; his artwork tells a story in that of itself, capturing our imagination in a different way each time. The level of quality leaves nothing to be desired, except one thing: the next Goon track!
There were so many cool and interesting uses of AT devices this year. From gnome sounds being made from synths, and entire songs made from a drum machine, we had a hard time choosing a winner. However, one artist consistently has raised the bar higher and higher. Throughout the past years,
rai.
has continued to create remarkable tracks from a single device. Take
3.0.3
for example. He always seems to have a few more tricks up his sleeve, and we eagerly await his next entry to the series!
One of the most important things for musicians within our community is specific and constructive critique. It takes a good ear for mixing, knowledge of sound design, and a way with words to give such a thing. Luckily
Client
is around! If you need an unbiased and qualified opinion, he is always happy to help. His own numerous delves into different genres has given him a special ear for things to tweak and change. Thank you Client for your help throughout the past year, and we hope others are inspired to do the same going forwards.
We have once again asked you guys to vote on who you thought embodied the spirit of creation and artistry this year, and the community has spoken!
Jetdarc
has done something never before seen on the site: he has created more than four hours of original video game music! Astral Aurora - The Complete Soundtrack The pure dedication displayed by him throughout the past couple years to the project is absolutely mind blowing. One thing is for sure: Jetdarc has shown us what it means to be a community leader, and is an inspiration to us all.
For some, artist block is seen as negative, resulting in minimal output and a feeling of lacking creativity. However,
retro
showed us that this can actually lead to a phenomenal track... or maybe three!
artblock session 01
Just completely floored us within the community. Fun chords, bouncy percussion, and funky melodies all contributed to this work of art. Thank you for the awesome track, Retro!
Collaboration is one of the most important parts of the Audiotool Community. Artists of all genres can come together to mix and match, resulting in some great results. The community almost unanimously voted for
something amidst
, and for good reason. The depth of sound design displayed here will be talked about for years to come. The beautiful soundscape was a result of
Soph
,
Client
and
sea foam and the wind
coming together. Everything just works here. Thank you for the amazing collab guys!
