rai. @fonder“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
My influence has been evenly split between mourn (now Ante), THRONE, luxior (now looks), opaqity, and dove. Outside of Audiotool, my inspirations have been Herzeloyde, Porter Robinson, Moe Shop, tails, J.ROBB and Chromonicci.
Vault Boy @s51995“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
The person that inspired me to even make music would be Skrillex, his best/iconic song for me would be easily "Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites".
Joe @no-worries-atmosphere“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
Most influential artist for me has to be Ollie. Ollie was around when I began experimenting with other genres and was a big supporter of my acoustic music. They gave me the courage to try and that meant a lot. Let alone the positive feedback Ollie gave me, they made this synth that I, to this day emulate in my own drafts. A little wobbly synth with long phrases, chef's kiss man. It just warms everything up.
BubbLz @bubblicious“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
Wizard - the way his tracks make me feel is almost as if he went through the same struggles I did. Something about it made me feel comfortable, his tracks actually make me feel something which is why I'm heavily inspired by him. If it wasn't for Wizard, I'd have no idea what my sound would be. TakeMeAway on Audiotool - his dark melodies really send shivers down my spine. okin on Audiotool - he mastered the simplicity aspect of a track, making it sound amazing with limited resources.
Vulkron @nick123456“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
Honestly, it has never been just one or two artists. I listen to everything and try out what I like about it. It's like I'm shopping: If I hear some phat bass that, say, Leadenshrew made, I'll either open remix or just attempt to recreate it from scratch. If there's a sample that Fluent used, I can just look through the assets and find it. I listen for what I like and try it out myself.
Tim Derry @kravatt“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
On AT, I have so many artists to look up to: Pathfinder (aka Arcade aka Waveshaper) the groove master, Frigolito the magician, opaqity the musical genius, luxior (aka looks) the horizon opener, Teqtoniq the professional-sounding, retro(²) the creative idea generator, naut the acoustic talent, ford the feeling catcher... Outside Audiotool, artists like Justice, Daft Punk, The Blaze, Caravan Palace, Polo&Pan, Madeon, Kavinsky are what makes me proud of being French, although other countries also have some of my huge inspirations like Disclosure, Marc Rebillet, Fatboy Slim, Flume, GRiZ.
ØutOfBounds @beeg_yoshi“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
Its hard to say as I've had so many inspirations. I'd say my biggest on AT is Looks and off AT is Porter Robinson. But its a very close tie between many artists I listen to.
Naut @trulsenstad“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
Musically, I find it hard to pinpoint whether I've let myself be inspired by anyone in particular. I don't really set out with much of a plan when I start projects, I just try to wing it until I run out of ideas. When I first started out, I was very inspired by artists who were at the forefront of incorporating real instruments into their productions like Olaf, Lionson and Tornsage. I've also been particularly inspired by some of the insane supergroups we've had throughout the years like Future Sound Collabs, future baes, and Untrust三.
Syntax AKA Kiari @inxile412“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
Astrum/Zonra on Audiotool has been my biggest inspiration to pursue music for over a decade now. When I was new to the site Astrum was always making these beautiful, albeit dated tracks by this point and to a new artist it felt like he could do anything. Even now I'm amazed at some of his older works' attention to detail and hauntingly catchy melodies.
Jetdarc @jetdarc“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
The 3 artists who've had the most influence on me in Audiotool are Shmoop, Kibbey, and Retro. When I first started, I found Shmoop and Kibbey's chiptune, and it really inspired me to create my own style of chiptune on the site, which I still use even now. I was a MEGA fan of both of them, and I have very fond memories of our collaborations, and my entries to their remix competitions. For the most part, the times where Retro influenced me the most was when I was getting into making different genres of music (Especially when I started making my critically acclaimed songs). It was like whenever Retro released a legendary song on the site, it would just get me extremely fired up and inspired, and I would try to make something amazing too. Outside of Audiotool are another 3 artists who've influenced me the most: Jun Ishikawa, Hirokazu Ando, and Toby Fox. Jun Ishikawa and Hirokazu Ando are known for their work on nearly every Kirby game's soundtrack, and as a big fan of the games and the soundtracks, I greatly respect these two men. Their works have inspired me even before I began creating music at all, and they still have a big impact on my style of chiptune and other video game music. During my Soundtrap era, when I discovered the works of Toby Fox, it was like I was experiencing what truly made me want to start making music all over again. I knew he was on an entirely different dimension from me when I listened to the Undertale soundtrack. He was and still is my superior in a thousand ways, and I just HAD to try and try to get on a similar level as him. He is truly a massive gold mine of skill and talent, like Jun and Hirokazu, and he still continues to inspire my Video Game Music today. There are several more artists who've inspired my other genres of music outside of audiotool such as: Flume, Inzo, Aivi & Surasshu, Defsharp, Nujabes, J Dilla, etc., but I decided to keep it to the top 6. I simply could not pick any fewer.
Kibbey @crashwarrior“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
On and off of Audiotool; looks and Jafu, respectfully. Looks, or at the time Luxior, was one of these pioneers. His content dabbles in a lot of genres at once and it's hard to say which one it captures as a whole. It's energetic, experimental, and very enjoyable. I found Jafu on Bandcamp, and their stuff is awesome. It's a broad mix of House, Techno, Bass, Downtempo, Jazz, and other stuff occasionally.
Fluent AKA Owtlet @foxyfennec“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
Man, I can't even pick one, so here's a list of a few: opaqity, Hvd, Aura, LaeventAri, Known, Naut, Arcade, Looks, sim, Ford, nico, Dove, Rai, Tornsage. These guys are all so talented, and every time I hear one of their songs there is something special and innovative that I've never seen before.
Icebox @stoneheart“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
Outside of Audiotool? I'd say Porter Robinson and Illenium. Those 2 are my biggest inspirations. But inside of Audiotool? When I first started out, I was influenced a lot by Vulkron. I've always dreamed of becoming a renowned producer like him on the platform.
Goon @untamed“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
When I started my account, I was only interested in making excessively loud bass music, but after discovering opaqity, I realised that I could have way more fun emphasising rhythm and harmony. Outside of AT it's hard to pinpoint the artists that really shaped my taste in electronic music, but Floating Points and Laurence Guy are right up there.
Naswalt @naswalt“Which artist has had the most influence on you (on and/or outside Audiotool)?”
sim Homeboy over here is always finding new and creative sounds. He takes risks I would never even think of in his work. We'll meet up one day.
