Reverb

Room size, pre-delay, decay, and damping shape a reverb. The built-in send shares one reverb across channels. The Reverb device is a separate processor with its own mix.

The built-in reverb send and the Reverb device use the same four ideas. The send is one shared room, with a send level on every channel. The device is a processor you place yourself, with its own mix knob.

Room sizeHow large the space feels. Small keeps the reflections close to the dry sound. Large opens a gap.
Pre-delayThe wait before the reflections start. On the built-in send it runs from 8 ms to 500 ms. A short wait leaves the note’s attack in front of the room. A long one is a slap, then the room.
DecayHow long the reflections take to fall away. Short leaves room for fast lines. Long smears them.
DampingHow quickly the highs die in the tail. On the send the knob is Damp. On the device it is the damping of the plate. More damping darkens the tail as it goes.

F.Back on the device recirculates that tail and can push it longer than decay alone. In both the send and the device, keep the dry signal louder than the wet one when the instrument should stay in front of the room.
